It is an assumption that is commonly made by stock market bulls. If you’re not bullish and fully invested in the stock market, you must have been squirreled away in a bunker for the past decade with your assets hiding out in cash. And if you are adjusting to the risks associated with today’s market environment by not being fully invested in stocks, you are continuing to sacrifice the additional upside that stocks apparently want to keep giving you. But the capital market universe does not consist of stocks alone. And knowing that there are alternatives to stocks, the key question to consider as a long-term investor is whether you are truly being rewarded for the risk that you are taking by being fully invested in the U.S. stock market? Or are other better alternatives available.
